Projects
Our mission is anchored in project-based initiatives that use empowerment for better health outcomes.
Indigenous Early Learning Project
Working with Waardi Limited, Xstitch Health is uplifting early childhood programs for Indigenous communities in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. We’re merging evidence-based health perspectives with local cultural knowledge.
Project goals include:
-
Ensure local cultural knowledge becomes integral to program structure through participatory co-design methods.
-
Align program methods with current scientific research while respecting Indigenous ways of knowing.
-
Develop systems to measure and demonstrate program effectiveness.
-
Develop a governance framework to ensure consistent quality, safety and effectiveness of the program.
-
Develop an implementation model for the redesigned program.
Our Approach
Our methodology combines research, community consultation, reflection and synthesis. Our multidisciplinary team brings expertise in Indigenous health, paediatric medicine and program design, with direct Kimberley region experience.
Current Status: Currently underway; commenced in August 2025
Somalian Community Project
The Somalian Community Project was co-designed with Somali residents in Brisbane to address health and social challenges for people with disabilities. It aimed to empower the community to build confidence in self-advocacy and improve access to mainstream health services. Refugees were a key sub-group in this project.
Project goals included:
-
Develop resources that adapt the health and social framework of disability to align with Somali cultural values and experiences.
-
Equip the community with the knowledge to self-advocate effectively within the healthcare system.
-
Create a co-design methodology that can be tailored to meet the needs of other communities facing similar challenges.
By focusing on culturally relevant approaches, the project aimed to create resources that connect with the community.
Current Status: This project ran from August 2024 to June 2025. Xstitch Health is proud to have completed this project without any government, grant or philanthropic funding.
Here are two of the videos we produced for the community and Amparo Advocacy. The third video explains their methodology.

AdvoKey Program
-
Equip residents with an understanding of their health conditions and their long-term impact.
-
Help residents learn how to manage their health conditions effectively, including medication routines and recognising symptoms.
-
Teach residents how to communicate effectively with General Practitioners to get the care and support they need.
-
Provide practical resources for meal preparation and household cleaning to improve daily living and self-sufficiency.
The AdvoKey program was co-designed with residents at an accommodation service for older men experiencing homelessness. It focuses on empowering them to build healthier, more independent lives. We are currently approaching sponsors for this program.
The program has four key goals:
These goals were developed through in-depth conversations with residents and supported by research insights. By focusing on long-term health and lifestyle improvements rather than short-term healthcare access, AdvoKey aims to empower residents to thrive when transitioning to permanent housing.
AdvoKey is led by Xstitch Health and ESG360, with strong collaboration from community partners:
Goals 1, 2, and 3 are implemented in partnership with a local General Practice and Pharmacy.
Goal 4 is supported by the Queensland Country Women’s Association (Sunnybank/Coopers Plains Branch).
We are also very grateful for the support of Cr Danita Parry, Brisbane City Council local member for Marchant Ward.
Current Status: Approaching partners. If you’re interested in collaboration, please contact us!
